Regatta Bar and Grille

The Regatta Bar and Grille is located in the Waterfront Hotel.

With a nautical theme and relaxing atmosphere it’s no question the Regatta is a hidden gem of Morgantown dining.

I frequent the Regatta every Wednesday after my W-V-U news class finishes taping across the parking lot. Usually seated at the bar, I get fantastic service and delicious food. The menu consists of comfort food with a twist. Sandwiches, salads, and entries for any type of taste bud.  The lunch buffet kicks off at 11. I would recommend the buffet over an entree just because you get everything all in one place. Not to say the menu doesn’t have diverse options.

Their Lunch buffet on Wednesdays is Italian themed and has a tasty all you can eat pasta bar where you can choose sauce, toppings and veggies!!! with various veggies, soups, and entrees on the buffet. In addition to a main meal there is a salad bar and various desserts to choose from.( I have a weakness for their cheese cake!)

All in all I think everyone should check out this spot! Its kind of fancy so don’t were your PJ’s but to be honest the prices are all pretty affordable.

  • I would also recommend this spot for a unique date spot!! Sometime Cheddars just gets a bit old!!!
  • Don’t forget to ask to sit on the patio if its nice out… it looks out over the river and the rail trail… pretty
  • let me know what you think about the Regatta Bar and Grille when you check it out!!

after note:

Currently there is a Business Card Drop Box where once a month there is a drawing, the winner gets dinner with two friends of choice, they even pick you up!! So get some cards made and try out your luck!

Twitter

I have had a Twitter account for a little over a year now. But I have yet to actually tweet/retweet/or communicate MYSELF in anyway.

Mostly I would just follow news organizations and celebrities to see what was going on in the world, and to get some of my news quick and dirty.

Now that I am getting into tweeting, I kind of hate it. Mostly i retweet what some of my favorite followers have to say, no one really cares if I’m going to work, or if my dog ate my socks… but ill continue to tweet to see if I can obtain a following.

PET CARE FOR THE WINTER MONTHS

The past few weeks have been a bit fringed! And although I realize that a warm couple of weeks is on the way, I thought it was important to remind all you pet owners out where how dangerous winter hazards can be….  To protect your pet during the cold winter months, the Dumb Friends League recommends the following safety advice:

  • Keep an eye on the temperature. When it falls below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, it’s best to keep your pet indoors. Short-haired dogs, cats and puppies should be kept indoors when the temperature dips below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Keep your pet’s coat well groomed. Matted fur won’t properly protect your pet from the cold.
  • Check your garage and driveway for antifreeze. Antifreeze tastes sweet to pets, but most brands are poisonous if consumed. Should your pet ingest any amount of antifreeze, contact your veterinarian immediately.
  • Regularly check your pet’s water to make sure it’s not frozen. When your pet is outside, make sure there is plenty of fresh drinking water available. Animals can’t burn calories without a fresh supply of water, and if they can’t burn calories, they’ll get cold. Also, use a tip-resistant, ceramic or hard plastic water bowl rather than a metal one, as your pet’s tongue can stick and freeze to a cold metal.
  • Use a damp towel to wipe your pet’s feet and underside. Ice-melting chemicals can irritate and burn the pads of your pet’s feet and can cause serious injury if ingested. Another way to protect your dog’s feet is to spray the pads of their feet with cooking spray or you can purchase boots for your pet.
  • Provide a dry, draft-free doghouse if you must keep your dog outside for any period of time. It should be large enough to allow your dog to sit and lay down comfortably but small enough to hold in its body heat. The floor should be raised a few inches off the ground and covered with cedar shavings or straw. The doghouse should be turned to face away from the wind, and the doorway should be covered with waterproof burlap or heavy plastic.
  • Slap the hood of your vehicle before starting it. In their search to keep warm outdoors, cats often take refuge next to a warm car engine or tire.
  • Keep snow from piling high next to your fence. A packed snowdrift will provide a boost for your dog to jump over the fence and escape the safe confines of your yard.
  • Indoors, make sure your pet sleeps away from drafts. Areas near windows or doors that lead outdoors may allow cold air to seep in and keep your pet from staying adequately warm.
  • Compare the amount of exercise your dog receives during the colder months to warmer months. If your dog is indoors more at this time of year, it’s probably getting less exercise and may need less food. However, if your pet is outside often in the winter months, it may need more food to burn the calories necessary to produce more body heat

Hope  these tips help… and don’t worry… the sunshine should be coming soon!!

Spring Break Menu

Spring Break is Approaching. And most people are trying to get into PERFECT shape in order to rock out the bikini (or speedo) so here are some tips….

What foods to avoid:

soda, coffee, alcohol, anything in the snack isle( chips, cookis, cake), stay away from salts and sugar.

what foods to eat:

whole grains, fruits, vegetables, oatmeal, plain popcorn, brown rice, protein, nuts, yogurt, hot peppers.

when ordering out, have the salad dressing on the side, another tip is to ask for a to go box at the start of the meal , and put half in to take home for later so you don’t “accidentally”  overeat.

also try this workout plan.

OLYMPICS

Oh the Winter Olymics… aside from one or two normal sports ( hockey, skiing, ice-skating) who really knows anything about the rest?

lets take a look at a list of events for the winter Olympics!

We got the

Now how many of these events are you familiar with?

Why someone needs to learn how to shoot a rifle then skate away feverishly escapes me. in the words of Chelsea Latly. ” Thats a skill you only need if its snowing in Harlem.”

but none the less i do enjoy a reason to get a little rowdy about the good old US of A so… you go Shaun White!!!

In Wake of a Blizzard

Well its time for more snow talk…

Lets take a look at what the Nation and more importantly WV has been up to over the last few days while buried under feet of snow.

It was reported today that W.Va is spending an average of $1 million a day on snow removal.

( thats funny cause MY street is yet to be visited by a plow)

In other news. A man froze to death today. ( We really fall apart when a little snow hits

People are kind of Freaking out about the storm . I guess all the Cabin fever is getting to people , and when they finally do get out of the house they decide to trash a Walmart for example.

On a lighter note. SOME people seem to be LOVING the snow. Check out their snow fun HERE.

Although some maybe enjoying it a bit to much.

MAP of HOME

Erie PA.

Where I call home. Latly I have been missing it more and more. And for one reason!

SNOW REMOVAL

Now I know I know I have ranted and raved about the subject before, however i cant help but to be a little ticked. It has been over 5 days since the snow-pocalypse and still my street remains un-plowed. Along with many nearby side streets.  UGG.

This brings me to Erie. Due to lake effect snow conditions, snow like what Morgantown has been experiencing is pretty much to be expected. And streets generally remain clear and passable , ( even during the snow storms). Its hard for my to rap my head around the whole city shutting down for a few inches of snow! REDIC.

But i suppose i should’nt complain to much considering i got a few class free days out of the disaster.

so thanks snow, and the non-existent snow plow men! thank you for making my 5 day week a 3 days week! 🙂

WEEK OF BLOGGING

Well my week of blogging is over. So lets recap!

All in all- not bad. it wasn’t hard for me to come up with topics to blog about, and i think that’s because my focus is sooo broad. In the future i would like to reevaluate my focus and try to narrow it down a bit.  To what… i have no idea yet.

Reading through other classmates blogs i have learned an abundance about cats, and sports, and PR, among other things. And i have realized that my blog is kind of all over the place. I believe narrowing down my focus will give “singitdontsayit” more meaning and possibly a bigger following.

I hope to keep up blogging everyday. But if i cant keep up the everyday update, i hope to at the very least be a bit more social of this aspect of  my social networking.
